Bikes Are Childrens Toys?
Many people get reminded of the days when they were younger and riding a bike which I suppose is where they get the idea that bikes are for kids. Is this something that is true or are the people saying it being a bit childish themselves?
I can see their point in certain ways, some of the cycling clothing does look a bit out there and those cycling shoes look simply ridiculous on some of the people that wear them.
However on the whole I think they are very wrong indeed. I do not understand how someone riding to work, whilst getting excercise and enjoying the morning air is acting at all like a small child? It is also very true to say that people that think this way are very overweight, unable to ride or very arrogant people. Personal opinion on this is that the people that think like this are the people that drive into work everyday whilst smoking and eating their NuggetMcZingerKingburger for the morning. I think I would rather be riding in the cold!
Other Reasons People Associate Bikes With Children
The fact is that most people have not been on a bike since they were a very young child and it is one of the very first things they remember doing too. It is certainly one of the first things that a parent will teach their child to do other than potty training and helping them to walk and talk. Many adults do not remember these times so their memory takes them straight to the training wheels on the bike.
On the other hand it is more than possible you had a bit of a fall when you were younger and have never really liked bikes since.
The real truth is that bikes are certainly not for kids and by riding one you are helping the environment and there are going to be more and more of them on the road soon.
Get on those road bikes and get riding!
