Help with my new Dirt Jumping Bike?
My only bike right now is June 1 Kikapu Kona. Because the Fox Vanilla coil shock is in fact one of the most powerful XC full suspension are you may have (little heavy course). I love this bike, but I try this summer to improve my game to jump. I want a DJ bike I know you would take to Ray's when I started. Me think of either the Mongoose Fireball … The Jamis kromo (tho i hate hydraulic )…. GT bouncer or the Jamis Komodo 2.0 or … which I know that is built like a jumper, but damn has 24 gears? Please any advice?
Man, there are tons of bikes out there now jump. As you shop, attention to geometry frame. There are a lot of burly hardtails available and they all look like "jump" bikes, but many of them are better suited for aggressive hardtail freeride and downhill. The Komodo has one of those. It has a limp in the corner and a longer top tube than a good jump bike. I own a Komodo frame, and built very heavy for urban abuse … and I jump with her a bit. It's not suited for dirt jumps, but it does ok. Makes it harder to work around than a more aggressive jump geometry. For the main angles of -72 ° 70 °, short rigid fork (80mm-100mm) and the shortest chainstays you can.
