i need to make my BMX lighter, any suggestions?

i bought this bike from halfords a few months back,
and although it seems ok for riding i have noticed it is very heavy.
i’m intending to use it for freestyle and dirt, perhaps a little ramp.

Well, unfortunately, that whole bike is heavy. lol. There are some things you can do to lighten it up, but honestly that money might be better spent on a better bike….new or used.

If you don’t use your pegs, you can take them off and drop a couple pounds right away. Tires are another good place to lose weight. I’m not sure about the cranks on that bike, but bmx cranks are beefy and the cheaper ones weigh a ton…after tires, that may be something to think about.

Since the frame on that bike is a bit of a porker, and the fork as well, any money spent on components won’t have as great an effect as you’re probably hoping for. Expensive wheels are another place to look, but again….consider the cost of upgrades vs. a new bike.

And lose that chainguard if you haven’t already. It only weighs a few ounces, but….y’know. )
