make bicycle exercise stand
What is the best bicycle to buy for exercising. Prefer Mountain bike.?
I stand 5′ 8 if that makes a difference. I weigh 140 and I need to lose 20 more lbs. Or you may suggest other exercise regimens to try. I currently walk 3 miles 3 times a week

The best bicycle for exercising is the one that you will ride.
That may sound odd, but most people focus on the most features or coolest looking, and not the one that they will actually find themselves wanting to get on to a few days a week.
A mountain bike gives you more of an upright position and often a more cushioned seat, but if you plan on long (multi-hour) rides it won’t be as comfortable as a forward leaning road bicycle. A mountain bike will also be slower than a road bike due to the heavier weight, less aerodynamics of you+bike, and thicker/knobby tires.
For the average once or twice a week hour long rider I would suggest one of many “hybrid” bicycles out there which give you the position of a mountain bike with thinner/smooth tires and a bit less of a bulky frame. It’s a good compromise of aesthetics and comfort for the average rider.
