Road Bicycle
Is the tread on the road bikes (slick) tires actually a function or is it purely cosmetic?
I would just like to know if it has no function as I've heard that bikes have completely slick tires in the wet any replies greatly appreciated. Even if people in professional bike racing believe that this is true.
jman4117's the right is more important than the tread compound, I use Vredestein Fortezza Tricomp they are the best I have tried slicks in the wet so far. (Although I do not ride my best bike in the rain) Cycling is not fast enough to hydroplane, the more rubber on asphalt, the better. Tread gives a false sense of security. hope this helps mate. .
