I wan’t a new mountail/trail bike. What should I get?

This is what i want in my bike:
-Lightweight Men’s Hardtail
-Front&Rear disc brakes
-I would like it to be from a bigger company (better support)
-Less than $350. This is somewhat flexible.

The bike i was looking at was the Specialized HRXC Disc. The only problem with that is the price ($420). I might be able to get a discount if I go to a shop. But based on this what would you recommend?

Thanks

You are right to go for a decent make. Have a look at the ranges of Trek, Gary Fisher, Kona, and Marin too.

You’re definitely right to buy from a proper bike shop. They will not be very willing to negotiate on price of bike, but will likely agree to throw in some clothing or accessories to clinch the sale. They lose less by giving you $30 worth of kit, than by giving you $30 off the bike.

What currency are you quoting? I live in the UK, and the closest bike match to the HRXC is the Hardrock Comp disc, priced around £349 (GBP) if you can find a similar bike for $420 US dollars, then you are surely onto a winner. Good luck.
