Steel or aluminum? I'm looking for a steel mtb try for the first time?
I know that aluminum is lighter, but I'm looking for a 01 bianchi grizzly mountain bike, which is steel. I used to have a specialized Stumpjumper M4 aluminum ride. It was very light, so I'm not sure I like a little heavier bike but generally is better for those who have both?
I've ridden steel, alum, Ti and carbon. I love them all. It all depends on the craftsmanship and design IMHO. Really, a light steel frame is only about 1 to 1.5 pounds heavier than other ultra-light frames. Steel has a representative for his heavy and most of those coming from that a heavier frame and is spec'ed with heavier parts. With that being said I have 2 alum and a carbon frame bikes now. I own a number of steel bikes in my time, loved 'em too. I love light and if you're a weight weenie Also you may not want a heavier engine, regardless of the material. The Stumpjumper is a sweet bike & Light. When the Grizzly is specs you give it a go. That is how your life experience. Try something else. You'll feel of steel, the bike? Only you will know if you like it or not.
