Specialized Bikes
My husband gets a Trek 7200 bike. I want a Specialized Expedition WSD. Are these the same type?
We want to ride together and he's 6'3 and I'm 5'4, so I need a bike that is at least as fast and as easy a ride as well as his. I'm afraid the bike I want is a little more trail and leave. Is there any other specialized cycle more similar to the Trek 7200? I do not want a Trek bike because women are a little too girly for me and the expedition Fab comes in a black and red combo.
The difference, as I'm sure you were informed in the shop, the wheel size. You are correct, the 7200 has the 700C wheel size, used on road bikes. The Expedition has the 26inch wheel size, used on mountain bikes. Now, the seller probably explained the 700c wheel is more efficient, stable and 26inch wheels. That's true, but the differences are small. General, the geometry (effective riding position) of the two bikes is very similar in that they both "comfort" bike category. This is the most important factor the effect of riding the bike. For recreational purposes, the differences in the wheels are placed with tire selection and pressure. If you are concerned about rolling resistance in the Specialized, switch to a narrower tire (26X1.5 perhaps) and be sure to keep inflated (the $ 30-40 for a floor pump is good invested)! Now get out there and waste his ass!
