road bike parts questions? Can I mix sora w/105?

Can I use a 105 front derailleur with a rear derailleur sora? I suppose they must both 105's but not sure if I was on the rear derailleur 105 I still use the 8 gear cassette thats there now? I have an older (within 10 years) Trek 2200 … Triple thanks for the replies. I had bought a new frame and I moved the sora components but the front derailleurs clamp was too small. I guess ill use it if the rest of the summer and next year to upgrade the Tiagra or 105's Thanks!

Today Shimano 105 (5600/5603) components 10-sp. A 105 PD for 5603 der will be too small of a cage for the remaining 8-sp chain to be happy to travel without much rubbing. Not mean you can not do, but it will be noisy if you do. A 105 rear of works fine with a 9-sp chain and will probably work well with the 8-chain sp. 8-sp chains are a little wider still, and the pins are not as they are flush with 9 – and 10-sp chains. Are you getting one screaming deal at 105? Personally I would not bother to 105 parts on a bike Sora until I was ready to completely switch off the shifters and drive train in a times. And even then, I would be tempted by better prices & deals on Tiagra, unless I had dreams of competing and felt I had to go with ten teeth. Tiagra's a good value and derailleurs will play nice with Sora 8-sp shifters and chains if you do not make a full swap from Sora. That is what I think.
