Nepal's monsoon – a beautiful time of year
Many people have postponed trips to Nepal during the monsoon. I think the monsoon is one of the best times to travel in Nepal if you want to see the real culture, fashion and beauty of life in the Himalayas. Granted you probably will not see the coveted snowy peaks of the Himalayas, but the benefits from getting a little wet and muddy worthwhile. Do not forget your umbrella, pack a touch of humor to sit down at the landfill and your camera to the heart and soul of Nepal to catch.
The monsoon itself is very vitality of both urban and rural Nepal. Life here revolves around the arrival and departure of three months the annual flood. Festivals, worship and colorful festivals should appeal to the rain god Indra on the monsoon to bring in a good time and then again to finish the crop to prevent battered by rain. After the cool winter days draw to an end, the spring time clouds and light showers Herald and the snow covered mountains slowly disappear behind a cloud bank. Morning fog fills the valleys, but it is dry. Bone dry, the winter harvest is ready and fields and roads are ground to powder by countless feet, hooves and bicycle tires. The harvest is done and dusted winter and villagers are spinning wool, winnowing wheat, maize and millet, and Chang Raski brewing. The air is thick with dust and pollution and the temperature rises. Sun dries hard spring wheat harvest and there is nothing left to do but prepare the field and wait for the rain.
The dark side cracks and barren land in May heat, the streets of Kathmandu with heave mess and odor, rivers trickle, cranes and many villages are dry trees and plants you will walk with the people. eyes on the sky areas in the direction of the cloud on the horizon bank and finally a fast wind, the first sweet patterns of rain on the ground. The first pre monsoon showers of the clear air, distil the oppressive heat and moisten the dried earth. The village has become a beehive of activity as farmers harness oxen and plow the fields. Women's Darkroom basket (wicker baskets) filled with manure and crop feed seedling Dhan (Rice). Corn, potatoes, tomatoes and Sag planted everywhere and men work hard to complex networks of hand-dug irrigation canals to link the rice fields water to feed. But it's not time yet, these showers are just the prelude of what's to come. Next, a waiting game, a game of man against the clouds, where will the big rains come? Sharman (medicine men) and Priests are called to throw rocks and caste predictions. Rice, the lifeblood of Nepal depends on the arrival of the big rains and getting the right plants is vital to the success of the crop. More clouds on the horizon to build more and fall showers. Then as suddenly as a clap of thunder from a blue sky seems to really open the heavens and the life giving rains of the monsoon arrive.
While the tourists to flee and retreat in Kathmandu locals their homes, villages come alive with activity. The country also comes to life, the rivers carve courses ever change, the ground moves and slides on creating new landscapes and plants burst into life with one million vibrant shades of green. The rain has a thousand faces, and clinging soft, hard, violent, enjoyable, soothing, warm, cold … rain rain rain, the sweet flow of life to the land of the Himalayas!
